Vintage Photo Collage Cards

I received the latest issue of Somerset Studio magazine yesterday, and someone had layered an antique photo, vintage ephemera, and sewing notions. So I decided to try doing it digitally with Photoshop Elements. This was the result. I love the vintage postcard images (from The Old Design Shop); the antique photos, clock face, and lace images (from The Graphics Fairy premium site); and the dimensional "bling" from Pixabay and Pixel Scrapper.

Enjoy!

More BOHO Printables

These can be used as journalling cards. Or trim the top corners to turn them into tags. Enjoy.

From My Kitchen to Yours: Recipe Journal

I just sent off this one-signature, vintage-style recipe journal that I made as part of a Facebook group swap. I'll be receiving one made by my swap partner as well. But I have to say that this one was hard to part with.

I used a fat quarter of 15-year-old Debbie Mumm fabric to wrap the cover. I wish I had more of the fabric so I could make something similar for myself. I also loved using Scrabble tiles for the book title.

I have subscribed to Cook's Illustrated magazine off and on for several years. The back cover of each issue has gorgeous images of some type of food. (You can see the lettuce and squash pages above.) I chose two pages and glued them together to make a cover for the signature. Perfectly vintage looking.

Part of the challenge was to make it easy for the recipient to add recipes to the book. In addition to the tabbed pockets inside the front cover, I added recipe-card pockets, printed recipe cards on the pages, added see-through pockets at the center of the signature, and a waterfall of recipe cards. Plus there are blank pages for adding even more recipes.

And, of course, added lots of retro kitchen and cooking images.

Well, except for the cover fabric and those specific Cook's Illustrated pages, I could probably recreate a version of this for myself. So many journals, so little time.

Vintage Travel Posters Printable

I love the look of vintage travel posters, so I knew I wanted to create something to use in an upcoming travel-themed journal. Here's what I came up with.

I designed them to use as belly bands in a journal, or combined to make a combo belly band/bookmark as described in a YouTube video by Gi Kerr. You can find the video HERE.

Enjoy.

Americana Junk Journal

I recently finished another junk journal. Since I love all things Americana, that is the
theme I chose for this JJ.  It is available HERE in my Etsy shop.

I put three signatures into this JJ, each with 12 sheets. That means there are 144 pages.

I started decorating the cover and wasn't happy with how it was looking. I knew I had a stack of cross-stitch projects that had never been framed or otherwise "finished". I was so happy to find one that fit the size of the journal perfectly.

I found this cute Uncle Sam printable on Pinterest. So I printed it out on card stock, cut up the pieces, and put it together with small brads. So fun.

Isn't this red paper gorgeous? It was hand-dyed, but not by me. Bought on Etsy. But it has so much more character than a simple piece of red card stock or paper.

I love how this envelope turned out. I made the envelope using an 8X8 inch piece of card stock by Tim Holtz. Then I fashioned the two corner tuck spots by cutting the freedom rectangle on the diagonal. Then added goodies to the resulting pocket.

This is the center of the first signature. The vintage printables are tuck spots, but I didn't tuck anything into them.

This spread is dedicated to the US flag.

The start of the second signature.

Gorgeous tea-dyed paper, along with blue dyed paper.

The end of the second signature and the start of the third. Love the Lady Liberty image. I had fun with the policy-envelope style pocket on the left. Just unwrap the string to open it up.

Added some cut-outs from a Graphics 45 paper.

The pocket on the left has a clear plastic window. What you see is a tag that can be removed.

I love these vintage photos.
