Free Printables: Grungy, Rustic Number Tags with "Metal" Embellishments

I've been in a grunge period with my printables. These tags would be fun in any vintage/grunge style journal. I think the metal embellishments make them useful in a steampunk-style journal as well. These measure about 2 inches by 3-1/2 inches.

Vintage Ruler Journal Tags

I created some tags a few months ago featuring vintage wooden rulers and yardsticks. I decided to create a set of journaling background pages to go with them. You can find the background kit in my Etsy shop: Vintage Ruler Journal Pages.

I have now created a set of tags to work with the backgrounds. There are eight tags in the set, plus two BONUS tags. Click HERE to find the vintage tags in my Etsy shop.

These tags also coordinate with my Vintage Beekeeping Journal Kit.

The first tag has a newsprint background, and I combined lots of rulers to frame the background.

The next one includes a vintage price tag and a ticket. (You know they have to be vintage because NOTHING costs only .29 or .35 today.)

And the final one shown above is one of my favorites. I started with a generic BINGO card and then overlaid two ruler images on a couple of the rows.

The first tag above includes a bookplate in addition to the ruler image. I didn't write anything in the bookplate because I thought it would be fun to use a white-ink pen and hand write something.

The second tag has a script background. Toned down the butterfly to match the ruler and the background.

The last one above uses some of my favorite ruler images. But to add more interest, I blended in a damask pattern.

These are the last two. I knew I wanted to do a tag with some florals and found the perfect one (but the flowers were too pink). So with some Photoshop magic, I warmed them up to match the warm colors in the background ledger paper and the ruler.

And finally, I couldn't make tags without using a bee.

I think these tags work in such a wide variety of vintage style journals. I can't wait to start using them.

Free Printables: An Eclectic Mix of Tags

I'll never tire of making printable tags for junk journals. I started out to make tags with a St. Patrick's Day theme. However, I ended up making tags that, for the most part, feature greens (not necessarily kelly green). They measure 3-1/2 X 5-1/4 inches.

On a PC, click the image to open it. Then right click and choose Save picture as...  Save it to your computer.

Free Printables: Homage to the Pantone Color for 2019

Pantone is a company that is best known for its PMS (Pantone Matching System) color matching guides to make it easier for printers, designers, and others to select and match specific colors. Each year they identify the trendy color for the next year. For 2019 the color they identified is Living Coral, described as a "vibrant orangey pink". I decided to create an eclectic mix of tags using Living Coral as the inspiration.

I had wanted to use this cute image of the girls for a while. Their dresses weren't the right color, but I recently did a Graphics Fairy tutorial that showed how to use a layer mask to easily "paint" over areas in the design with the preferred color. And the quote was the perfect addition.

Of course, I had to use some European ephemera to make a tag. So much ephemera is French, so it was nice to use something in German instead.

But I couldn't leave out the French. This tag combines a portion of a map of France with a French Chateau. Interestingly, the Benjamin Moore paint company has named "Metropolitan Gray" as their color of the year. And it works so nicely with Living Coral. 

This is a collaged image using five layers -- a gradient background I created using Living Coral and white; a grunge overlay; the music added using a Photoshop brush; and the woman in the garden and tree branches from The Graphics Fairy. 

This tag also is collaged using the similar approach -- a gradient background, text from a Photoshop brush, and two images from The Graphics Fairy. 

The color was starting to remind me of Valentine's Day. As a result, we have this tag featuring Cupid and a quote from Shakespeare.

This lady with her fan already was dressed in Living Coral. It was easy to add the text with a brush and a little flourish at the top of the tag.

Lastly, I wanted to use some ephemera featuring an old-fashioned big-wheel bicycle (also known as a "penny farthing"). I ended up making three tags because there were such great image options from Pixabay. My favorite one is the first one, but I also like the others. For the background, I started with a vintage floral design from The Graphics Fairy, removed the (somewhat garish) colors, and blended it with Living Coral.

So that is my homage to the Pantone color of the year -- Living Coral.
